We’re celebrating the awesomeness that is the Homegrown posters today! We’ve had some greats make them for us - including poster designers Matt Jelly and Matthew Junkin. One of our regular poster creators, Lauren Olson compiled a bunch of her favs from the last several months! It’s like a walk down Live Music Memory Lane. What were your favourite live shows? Tell us on facebook and we’ll dig up some oldies and start sharing them!
We’re having the most splendid evening at this all ages Autism Centre Benefit fundraiser and concert! We snapped a bunch of photographs of the action, and we’ll keep updating as the event carries on! So far, we’ve been treated to performances by the Celebration Army, and Till The Morning Comes, Glenn MacDonald and Matthew Dezoete!
Gusto Gala is happening right now! Networking and presentations will run until around 9pm, and then we’re opening up the floor for live music! Check out all the action in our gallery, whcih we’ll be updating all night!
The reception at the Hamilton Independent Media awards has been wonderful, with friends and colleagues of Maggie Hughes taking the stage to discuss not only her spirit, but the impact she has made on independent reporting in our city. Kevin MacKaygave a talk about independent journalism, pointing out the global potential to communicate public opinion thanks to the new and changing face of journalism. Matt Jelly reflected on his memory about Maggie Hughes and what her legacy means to local independent journalism. And Mike Hampson remembered how Maggie was always wanting to share, and bring the community together in the spirit of information sharing.
We have a lot of talented folks that like to chow down at Homegrown. Thanks to overwhelming popularity on Facebook and Instagram, we know you like to see musicians putting food in their faces! So here you go. A whole lot of hungry musicians nom-nomming at Homegrown. If you happen to BE a musician, who likes eating, you can come down to the Tuesday Night Open Jam (thats tonight!) and enjoy our $5 All-You-Can-Eat Rice and Beans “Starvin’ Artist” meal special. And yes, professional and/or amateur foot tapping does count.
We thought we’d share a little food gallery with you, so you can see what you’re missing if you haven’t been by for breakfast, lunch or dinner at Homegrown! Feast your eyes on this. <3
Thanks to everyone who shared pictures of the snow at Homegrown during the big fluffy snow storm yesterday! Dave Gould took to skiing to get the Homegrown coffee fix, Homegrown’s Julia made some amazing Sweet Potato & Chèvre muffins (because there’s no such thing as a snow day in this kitchen!), Christopher shared his shots of the front of our building! and Dylan Farrell set up his art show!
Such an amazing turnout tonight for the Pay It Forward Accessibility Event tonight! We were so excited for everyone who came out, our incredible lineup of performers and all the local businesses who contributed to the raffle. We raised $502 in total, and we are so excited to get the ramp set up on the stage in 2013! THANK YOU EVERYONE!
Oh my, lots-o Music Bingo happened tonight! Many music lovers scored awesome prizes including Dr. Disk gift certificates, Homegrown gift certificates, beloved coffee bean blends, download cards and other cool stuff. See you guys next month!
